J G Fielder & Son Funeral Directors are York’s most experienced independent funeral directors, having served the community for over 130 years. We offer a caring and sympathetic service and our compassionate team of professionals are available round the clock with help and advice. As a fifth-generation company, our family have spent the last 130 years building the knowledge and services needed at one of the most difficult times in your life. For us, being a funeral director is not just a job, it is our calling.

When someone close to you dies, we know that the last thing you want to do is have to deal with a whole host of practical problems, including arranging a funeral. You’re on an emotional roller-coaster and you may feel overwhelmed by your feeling of loss. Ultimately, you are grieving, and having to make what might seem like endless decisions is understandably not really top of your agenda.

Our compassionate and caring team of funeral directors will guide you through the process from start to finish. We explain everything as clearly as possible, offering suggestions to make the service special and unique, and supporting you to choose the most appropriate and personalised send-off for your loved one.

We believe in being transparent about the cost of our services. Our full price list is available on the prices page. We provide options to suit a range of budgets, from providing support where needed to those who want to make arrangements independently, through to those who want us to take care of every aspect for them.

With funeral homes in York, Pocklington, Market Weighton, Tadcaster Wheldrake and now Easingwold, we guarantee that help is at hand whenever it is needed, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

The proprietors, Victor Fielder and his son Chris, and their team of funeral directors and support staff all give their time and attention to whatever our clients require, continuing the long family tradition.

We are members of the National Association of Funeral Directors, and the Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors.
